Many people consider Madison a college town, but it's so much more. There are indeed three colleges in town that infuse the area with youthful energy and drive. However, Madison has deep historical roots and retains a lot of its old-fashioned charm and friendliness. Many parts of Madison may seem familiar, as it's been the filming location for several films and television shows. The picturesque properties and a downtown preserved from a bygone era are the perfect backdrops for big-screen romcoms and an ideal place to put down roots in Morris County.
 
Homes in Madison are as idyllic as the rest of the area. Driving along Madison's winding roads, you'll spot graceful Colonials next to striking Victorians. Lots are large, wooded, and private. The town also offers several luxury apartments and townhouses, great for low-maintenance living with plenty of upgraded amenities. And all of this is just under an hour from Manhattan. Madison is both a convenient and beautiful place to call home.

Madison's walkable downtown district has top-rated restaurants and upscale dining experiences. Start with L'Allegria, a cozy Italian restaurant serving impeccable pasta, steak, and seafood dishes. For a laid-back lunch, head to Takuma Japanese Restaurant. The casual diner offers fresh sushi and a fantastic selection of Japanese dishes.
 
The downtown district also offers excellent shopping opportunities. Stop into The Pink Pear, a top-rated Main Street boutique with creative gifts for friends of all ages. Nearby, STITCH Boutique has a terrific selection of women's clothing and accessories, great for finding a new outfit for your next night out. Kids of all ages will love visiting Tons of Toys, a fantastic toy store stocked with everyone's favorite games, building sets, dolls, and so much more.

 
Things to Do

Between the local clubs, sports, school events, and community festivals, you'll always have something to do in Madison. The community has a very popular Memorial Day parade, complete with floats, which brings visitors in from the surrounding communities. The weekly Madison Farmers' Market at Dodge Field in the summer is excellent for picking up locally grown produce and freshly made baked goods. 
 
Residents will enjoy exploring Memorial Park and its wooded dog-friendly trails. It is also the location of the Madison Community Pool, an excellent gathering place in the summer. Golfers can enjoy the greens nearby at Fairmount Country Club or Brooklake Country Club.
